Just a few old and new....

I got this idea from my cousin Andrea. I started thinking about the different cars we've had. So here it goes:

This is not an actual picture but my scanner is broken so I just found one online. Plus I have NEVER lived anywhere this cold.....

My very first car in high school was a 1985 Lincoln Town car. It was pimp! We had so much fun in that car. It was the ride of all rides. The funny thing is that when I traded it in for this 1993 Nissan Sentra:

They only gave my $800.00 for it. So then I drove the Sentra for about 4 years. Just in time to pay it off and then total it in a hit and run accident. That was the second accident in that car but I loved it. It was sporty and dependable. Even when I ran it out of oil once and then burned the clutch up in it.

So once the insurance company totalled it, Aaron and I were engaged to be married so we bought a 1997 Saturn.Aaron was driving his 1993 Dodge Dakota and we used it as our "nice" vehicle.
When Alyson was born I was driving the Saturn and Aaron was driving the Dakota. When Alyson was about 13 months old we bought our first Ford Expedition.
Aaron still drove the Dakota and I drove the Expedition after trading in the Saturn. In 2004, we traded the 97 Expedition for the 2003 Expedition. Aaron drives the Expedition because we sold the Dakota about a year ago and I drive my 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE. I LOVE it and I can't believe I didn't make the switch until after having Alivia. It is not this color. Mine is a dark grey color.

We also bought a Dodge Neon off of ebay in 2003. It was a cute little car but ended up selling it about a year and a half after buying it.

None of these pictures are actual pictures of our cars but I tried to find ones that were pretty close. We are happy with our current vehicle situation. I love having new vehicles but I also love not having HUGE payments too.

Another trip to the scale....

So we weighed in yesterday and I lost 2.4lbs. I don't feel deprived or hungry and have found some yummy recipes. I don't feel like I am on a diet either. I've just changed the way I shop and prepare my food.

I went to the gym on Saturday but didn't make it the rest of the week. My goal is to go to the gym 3 times before next Thursday.

A friend of my mentioned I should have pictures taken every week and post those so I can see my progress for myself. I might just do that!

911...What's your emergency

Alyson and Abby were talking about emergencies and how to handle them in Girl Scouts last week. I play Bunco with their Girl Scout leader, so on Friday night she was telling me that Alyson told the story about her calling 911 because her parents were "missing!"

About a year ago I was coming home from Target and when I turned down a street close by home, there was a truck that tried to jump a huge ditch in the road and didn't make it. There were a few fire trucks, metro officers, etc... I called Aaron and told him to walk down to the corner to check it out with me. (the guy in the truck was okay because he got out and ran away from the scene).

The kids were asleep so Aaron opened the garage door and walked outside to take a look. Alyson woke up and couldn't find us in the house because we were standing down the street (like 20 yards away from our front door). She got scared, woke up her sisters, let the dog out of the kennel, and called 911. I thought I could hear them so I walked back to the yard, and there they stood. All 3 girls, the dog and the cat. Alyson was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher and when she saw me she told the dispatcher "oh, there's my mom." Poor girl was shaking and scared. I couldn't get to her though because Maggie (our poodle) wouldn't let us in the yard. I explained to Alyson she did the right thing and we love to laugh about it now! Aaron walked down to the corner to tell the officer to ignore the 911 call to our address.

Sorry it's such a long blog but I wanted to write about it since I am using this as a journal.

Before it's too late..

*Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and
pick you up and take you to the park to play.

*Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink,
and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

*Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

*Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck and I will buy you one if he comes by.

*Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

*Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

*Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

*Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

*Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.

*Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.

*Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows.

*Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.

*I will think about the mothers And fathers who

are searching

for their missing children, the mothers and

fathers who are

visiting their children's graves instead of

their bedrooms, and

mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms

watching

their children suffer senselessly, and screaming

inside that

they can't handle it anymore.

*And when I kiss you good night I will hold you

a little tighter,

a little longer. It is then, that I will thank

God for you, and

ask Him for nothing, except one more

day.............

It's here....

I'm talking about the heat! It's suppose to be 92 degrees on Saturday. I'm not sure if I am ready for that kind of heat, especially since we have 4 soccer games still. It is so hard to play (and coach) when it's 100 degrees outside. Luckily, all of our games are pretty early in the morning. Alyson has one game that is at 1pm. I pray for a cool down before that game.

Friday night I went and played Bunco and rolled the most Buncos. I won $20! I love playing Bunco because it's super easy and fun. It's just nice to hang out with friends and not have to play Mom for awhile.

I woke up early on Saturday and hit the gym before our soccer games. Abby's team tied 0-0 and Alyson's team lost 3-1. I only got to see half of Alyson's game and they were winning when I got there! Frustrating for a team that didn't lose 1 game last year. We went to lunch after the games and then did some shopping. We stopped at home to change and then headed to the drive in movies. It was super windy and the kids were tired but the 2 movies were really cute. We watched Nim's Island and Horton Hears a Who. We went with our friend and their two kids. You can totally tell by looking at our hair that the wind was blowing. We sat between the 2cars to help block it.

We taught Abby's primary class on Sunday and I really enjoyed it. I love teaching in primary. I love it because I learn so much.

Not too shabby...

So we had our first weigh in and I lost 3 lbs. I think I could have lost more but I got a LOVELY visit from you know who last night so I feel bloated and everything that comes with that monthly visit.

I've only been able to make it to the gym twice this week so that is my goal for this week. I am going to try and make it atleast 3 times this week.

We've had 2 soccer games already and we won both games and the girls are doing great! Alyson's team has lost both games but they are playing in the highest division in the leauge. They are playing against teams that travel to other states to compete. So they are doing great considering what they are up against every week.

We had a busy weekend but I didn't take one single picture. Friday night we went to Sheldon's birthday party, Saturday we had games, I had my hair done, and we went cosmic bowling at Red Rock Station. I love staying busy! We have another busy weekend ahead of us...

I will succeed in losing weight, I will make it to the gym, I will continue to go to my Weight Watcher meetings (with a few of my friends now, YEAH!!!), I will reach my goal!!!

I have posted a weight loss ticker on my sidebar. Brave, right? No, it's desperation and determination. I will get to my goal this time and stay there!

Snoop Dog did what?????

Rumor has it, Snoop Dog was baptised into the LDS church. I've read different stories saying that it was an April Fool's joke but I can still have faith right? I LOVE Snoop! I think it would be hilarious to sit behind Snoop Dog and his family during sacrament meeting. I'm not sure if this story is true but I loved reading it!

Though Snoop Dogg has been hesitant to publicly discuss his recent spiritual journey, he commented on the experience of attending his first “Family Home Evening” in a recent interview with People Magazine.

“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Gas is too out of control....

Especially when your driving that. Last spring/summer we took so many trips in our trusty ole' motor home but this season is going to be a little different because the cost to fill her up is CRAZY!!!!!

We bought this motor home in March 2007. We have used it 11 times since we bought it. We picked it up for $5,000 and did a little work to it. Okay - it was more than just a little work but it was all sweat equity work and now it's doubled in value.

We took it out over Easter weekend and have a few more trips planned but nothing like last year. We've had to eliminate a few trips (ie..Coral Pink and Gifford work project in Kolob) but we still plan on going to Manti, a few reunions, and a trip or two to Eagle Valley.

We've talked about selling it and getting us another trailer but I LOVE traveling in the motor home. The girls have access to the bathroom, we can go get cold drinks out of the fridge while traveling, TONS and TONS of room for storage, and I love being able to pack a few things and go because everything is already packed. I guess for now, we'll keep it and hope gas prices go down or we may be in the market for a new "rig" next season.

Field Day

The girls had field day on Friday so Alivia and I went to support the girls and help out the PTA. For the last 2 years, we have been out of town for field day so this is the first year since Kindergarten Alyson has participated so she was really excited.

I was so glad they decided to do it a little earlier this year so that it wouldn't be so hot. I remember in elementary school, field day was an all day event. It was usually in May and we were lucky if we didn't get heat stroke! Good ole' days!

Anyways, field day now only last for 2 hours and everybody was a winner. No first, second or third place classes, and NO tug of war! Heaven, Alyson, Nicole and Emma. A few of ALyson's really good friends since Kindergarten.Abby with a few of her friends for her class and Alivia too! The kids at their school all LOVE Alivia and sometimes I feel like she's a distraction.Alyson dribbling away! Abby doing the jump rope race. She was really fast! They couldn't get enough of Alivia.

We have our first soccer games of the season this weekend. I'm kind of nervous because our goalie from last season decided to play softball and so we are training a new goalie. I have to go pick up the schedule today so we'll see what team we are playing first. I can't believe how nervous I get for these games!!! Especially because we had such an awesome season last year. I hope we can do the same.
